Veterans Legal Services promotes equity by providing free and comprehensive civil legal aid services to economically disadvantaged military veterans in Massachusetts. VLS helps former service members obtain the stability and financial security necessary to live the healthy, happy, and dignified lives they deserve. A 2022 Department of Veterans Affairs survey found that nine of the top ten unmet needs of veterans experiencing homelessness are legal needs. According to the Legal Services Corporation, approximately 70% of veteran households face at least one civil legal challenge per year. Of those households, 21% face six or more legal challenges annually. Civil legal aid is a proven remedy to this problem. Click here to learn more about the need for civil legal aid.
