Each year, VLS hosts an annual event to help raise funds to continue and grow our programs and services.

VLS Annual Event 2025 It was an honor to recognize our award recipients Tara Dunn Jackson, Esq. and the team at Holland & Knight, thank our volunteers and donors, and celebrate our team. We were also treated to a special message from Jon Stewart of The Daily Show.

Thanks to the generosity of individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations, the event raised close to $340,000 which will help address the legal problems of over one thousand Massachusetts veterans this year. Click here to visit the 2025 event page.

VLS Annual Event 2024 We had the extraordinary pleasure of hearing from Doris Kearns Goodwin and her son, VLS board member Joe Goodwin, about their remarkable experiences as a family as they navigated through school, politics, the military, and beyond.

We are so grateful to Doris and Joe for sharing a glimpse into their personal lives. Special thanks to Jackie Fearer for moderating and engaging Doris and Joe in such meaningful conversation. Be sure to check out the event page to learn more and view the event photo gallery.

Planned or deferred giving is a commitment made now to make a gift to a charitable organization in the future, either during your lifetime or through your will. The gift may be conveyed through bequests, gift annuities, and charitable trusts of various kinds. The assets conveyed to the charity are often in forms other than cash: stocks and bonds, marketable real estate, life insurance policies, retirement funds and the like.

It is highly recommended that you work closely with a financial planner to create an estate plan that meets your future intentions and current needs. To further discuss, please contact VLS.

There are significant benefits for donors who choose to donate stock to VLS. We are pleased to share that VLS is utilizing the STOCKDONATOR to process these types of gifts. Please consult your tax/financial advisor for specific benefits and if you determine that a gift of stock is right for you, please visit STOCKDONATOR to begin the process.

The Colonel Ruby Linn Endowment Fund was created in 2016 thanks to the generous support of the Ruby W. and Lavon P. Linn Foundation.

Gifts to the endowment are held in perpetuity, and proceeds help ensure that Veterans Legal Services will continue to meet the critical needs of Massachusetts veterans for many years to come. Click here to donate to the endowment.
